"7 SKIN METHOD" - A KOREAN BEAUTY TREND

Take a break from your regular skin care routine and try the latest trend in Korea at the moment, the "7 skin method".

Basically it means adding seven layers of a toner and/or essence to get a boost of moisture. You use a toner or essence to achieve the right pH value, which can be out of balance simply due to the water you splash on your face or other external or internal factors. The idea behind the "7 skin method" is that the hydration level of skin can be increased without the heaviness or greasiness that may come from traditional creams and oils. (A little note: ‘skin’ and ‘toner’ have the same meaning in Korean.)

It's important that you use a toner that you know is good for you skin. And we would recommend not to use anything containing alcohol, as this may dry out your skin, clog your pores and potentially cause irritation with so many layers of the product. One of SkinBloom's favorites to use for this method is the Organic Flower Deep Rich Essence Toner from Whamisa. This bouncy toner is packed with natural and hydrating ingredients perfect for layering.

How to:

Application methods may vary, but here's our favorite; We find that two or three drops of the toner is enough, using more than this will only go to waste. Rub the product between your hands and pat or stroke the toner gently onto you face.

You can also use a cotton pad, but only for one layer as your skin may be irritated by the texture of the cotton pad after multiple layers.

Allow two to three minutes between each layer - be patient ladies, you will be rewarded!

Now that you are done with the seven layers you don't really need to apply any more products other than your daily sunscreen and maybe some makeup. In dry weather you may feel the need of additional moisture, a good lotion or cream will do the trick.

Please note that while this method works wonders for some it may not be the best routine for others. Choose a gentle toner and take extra care if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin.

So - are you willing to try the "7 skin method"?
